Through their Code of Professional Practice, ESCA members also operate a strict code covering all dealings with candidates to ensure that they and their career details are treated in a totally confidential manner. The Candidate Care Code stipulates that:-

  • Details of candidates will be revealed to a Client only with the specific knowledge and consent of the candidates.
  • Enquiries with regard to candidates' references will be made only with the knowledge and consent of the candidates.
  • Candidates will have the right to know the Client's identity before his/her identity is disclosed to the Client.
  • Information given by the candidates in confidence will be regarded as such and only used in connection with the recruitment assignment.
  • Consultants will only accept an assignment when they are empowered to disclose all facts they consider relevant to interviewed candidates.
  • Candidates will be kept informed of the status of their application, and unsuccessful candidates will be advised promptly of the outcome of their application for a particular position.
  • Unless requested to do otherwise, the Consultants may retain files of unsuccessful candidates against the possibility that other relevant assignments may arise.
  • In no circumstances will a candidate be charges a fee. Consultancies are retained and act on behalf of the Client organisations, not individuals.
